According to Wikipedia, "A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group’s ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. In the UK the term plant is used."

The word takes on a whole new meaning if you’re a fan of Podcasting and looking for a new addition to your Marketing Podcast line-up. Shill Podcast just launched their second episode today, and it’s already climbing its way close to the top of my "must-listen-to" playlist. It turns out that two of my favourite Social Media people, Doug Walker (Webwalker Blog, World Rock Paper Scissors Society and Venture Communications) and David Jones (PR Works Blog, Inside PR Podcast and Hill & Knowlton), have teamed up to drop the kindness and friendliness and give the straight raw truth about all things Social Media and Digital Marketing.

With this candour comes the sprinkling of f-bombs and other non-work safe musings. Finally, someone giving a little extra edge to Podcasting and filling a much-needed space. We all get our laughs from the awesome American Copywriter, so it only makes sense to have a Podcast with more of a Marketing focus (but similar bite).
