Digital Marketing And Personal Branding Freebies

Posted by

If you have not already picked up a copy of my first book, Six Pixels of Separation, this might be the perfect opportunity…

For the next five day (until Friday, November 20th, 2009), if you buy a copy of Six Pixels of Separation (book, e-version, Kindle, audio, etc…. – all versions count) and forward me your receipt, I am giving away two very special gifts for free as a "thank you."

  1. Social Media For Business In 6 Simple Steps. This is my first e-book, and it’s currently being written, edited and designed. I hope to have it out in January 2010. In this e-book, I walk through six steps (including tools) that I have used (and that we, at Twist Image, have used for clients) to jump-start your business for Social Media and Digital Marketing. It includes strategies to listen to what is being said about your brand, how to have those first interactions and then how to really apply what you are learning to build your own network and community. This e-book is written in business language with business examples of how to best engage, create and grow your own online community. If you buy Six Pixels of Separation this week, you will get this book as an exclusive gift as soon as it is finished/published. I currently have no plans to release this e-book beyond this offer, so it is only for the select few who act on this opportunity.
  2. Your Personal Brand Audio Workbook. In 2007, I recorded this hour-long CD audio program to sell exclusively at events like The Power Within. I have never sold or given away this content beyond those select few events. In this audio workbook, I walk through the basics of what a personal brand is, why it is important and how you can use the three most power conversations (Internal Conversation, One-To-One Conversation and the One-To-Many Conversation) to nurture and develop your personal brand. The CD sells at these speaking events for $35-$45, but if you buy Six Pixels of Separation this week, you will get a MP3 (digital version) of the audio workbook for free.

Here’s how to get these two free and exclusive gifts:

  1. Buy a copy of Six Pixels of Separation at your favourite book retailer (some will be listed below). This offer is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
  2. Email me your receipt (the date must be between November 16th, 2009 – November 20th, 2009).
  3. That’s it! I’ll email you instructions on how to grab the Your Personal Brand Audio Workbook, and as soon at Social Media For Business In 6 Simple Steps is published, you will get that too.

One more thing: if you already own the book, Six Pixels of Separation, but would like to buy this as a gift for a friend, colleague, peer, client, etc… Please follow the steps above and let me know, and I will send you two copies of the the e-book and audio workbook (one for you and one directly to the person you are gifting it to). Also, if you simply refer someone and they buy the book, have them email me your name/email address and I’ll send the freebies on to you as well.

Please feel free to share this offer.

You can buy the book, Six Pixels of Separation, right here (but feel free to use your favourite book retailer – offline or online):

  1. Mitch, I mean no disrespect, but this merely rehashes things I’ve already read a thousand times on the Web. I’ve been in branding since I was sixteen years old (I’m 49 now) and since I’ve been on the Web I’ve read countless articles describing what to do in marketing yourself, but I’ve rarely read anything describing how to do it. This just seems like more of the same.

  2. Mitch, I just bought your book about a week ago. How incredibly aggravating that you would exclude me from your special offers. Read a little more of Seth Godin about not alienating your support base. By the way I love the book and will continue to recommend it to all and sundry

  3. John, I just had the exact same reaction. I actually bought my copy last Wednesday. I actually started writing a similar comment, but then I changed my mind. Obviously, Mitch is trying to do some kind of push for the book this week, and he feels that “sweetening the pot” might get those who are on-the-fence to take the plunge and buy his book. Although I would like to check out these freebies, this Blog, the Podcast (and even following him on Twitter) is nothing but a constant barrage of amazing insights and more – ALL FREE… all of the time.
He gives so generously and – if I read between the lines of his post – what I think he is saying is that even if you refer someone to pick up the book, he would send you the extra goodies? Is that right Mitch?
Regardless, I’d love to get my hands on these freebies, but I totally appreciate everything he does and how generously he gives.
Did sucking up work Mitch? Now, can I get those freebies?
    😉

  4. Hey Brian, the intent was not to aggravate people, but it was created to do exactly what John stated in his reply above.
I thought a lot about how to do this to make it a) easy and b) unique to those who don’t already own the book.
I like John’s suggestion, so I am going to update the Blog post to include a referral – meaning if someone does buy the book because you referred them, I’ll be happy to send that person both the audiobook and e-book.
My intent is never to make anyone feel upset or jilted. If you still feel this way, simply email me and I’ll make good.

  5. Hey Doug,
You are 100% right. If you know this stuff and have been following along, you may have already heard some of this content already. The intent of both the book and the promotion is to speak – primarily – to those who have not yet embraced these channels like you have.
That being said, on countless occasions those who are engaged in the channel have commented that they have picked up something new (a tip, strategy, tactic or new way of thinking) that they had either not thought of before or could be doing a lot better.
I hope that helps to clarify things.
Also, I don’t think anyone can really do a proper “how-to” because each business (and their overall strategy and objectives) will be different. The most any of us can do is introduce the channels/platforms, show how we have used them (or others have), give some tips and tricks as to ways to optimize them for business and hope that helps you figure out the “how-to” part or sparks some new thinking.
    Best of luck.

  6. Safe to assume the order date is what’s important here, not the shipping or delivery date? Amazon gets my dollars a few days from now, so I’m liable to see the book in, oh, perhaps January.

  7. Mitch,
Thanks for the reply. It’s been pretty discouraging for me trying to get this design business of mine kick-started. I’ve plugged in the hours commenting, socializing, linking, blogging, and it’s getting old fast – especially with no results to show for it. I have even enlisted the aid of several “internet marketer” types, but in the end they were all talk and no do.
I didn’t mean to sound like I was bashing your book. It is probably good for people just starting out.

  8. Mitch — This kind of value-add is frick’n awesome. I mean that in two ways. 1) The ebook and audio book look great AND 2) The special offer itself is a great idea.

  9. Greetings from Cork Ireland,
I wouldn’t look to you for an original idea. I’d look for a fresh tone of voice with which to hook my interest.
Original ideas happen by accident. I don’t need them because I haven’t yet worked the current crop.
Congrats on your approach. It’s travelled over the Atlantic. And I’m already a fan.
    Paul

  10. I thought this was a great idea to get people to check out your book (I just bought it!). It’s like saying you can never run a promotion or sale unless you extend the offer to everyone who has bought it before, and that’s just ridiculous.
I’ve been following this Blog for a few years and even if you didn’t extend the free stuff to people who bought the book before this promotion, I’m sure some of the information you include in it has been published here or available in audio on one of your Podcasts. You do nothing but give and help, so don’t stress over the few people who – no matter what you do – just want more stuff for free.

  11. This may have pushed me over the edge I actually took a photo of your book cover just last night in borders and had it load into my evernotes so I could check it out later… but maybe today is the new later.
    Thanks!

  12. Hey Joel
thanks for the response. I have your book recommended on my Linkdin site, on my ning site and will be updating the Blog, so I am a fan.
Feel free to make me feel “whole” anyway you like LOL
    [email protected]

  13. Hey Joel. Would those free books happen to be classic, deluxe, custom, designer, luxury, prestige, high quality, premium select, gourmet free books?

    Bruce

  14. The right incentive at the right time = winner. I’ve had this book in my shopping cart for at least 4 weeks now, kept getting dragged back to work and away from finishing my shopping.
The latest reminder tweet told me now’s the time. 🙂
    Thanks Mitch!

  15. Actually, I acted then. I bought your book after your talk at mediaville.ca
What’s your take on so-called “authenticity” in advertising, à la Seth Godin?
“Because consumers prefer fantasy to the truth, the marketer’s duty is to be “authentic” rather than honest, to “live the lie, fully and completely” so that “all the details line up”-that is, to make their falsehoods convincing rather than transparent.”
    Sounds pretty toxic to me.

  16. Hi Mitch-
I bought your book on Nov. 17, so met that proviso, but didn’t get to my scanner to send you the receipt proof until the 21st. Do I still get your freebies?
    Greg Dekker

  17. hi Mitch
Your book was recommended to me by the NoBS team. I have pre ordered it on Amazon.co.uk and won’t receive it till after Christmas. Just wondered if i’m eligible for your offer.
    Thanks
    Tim
