Six Links That Make You Think #807

Is there one link, story, picture or thought that you saw online this week that you think somebody you know must see?

My friends: Alistair Croll (Just Evil Enough, Solve for Interesting, Tilt the Windmill, Interesting Bits, HBS, chair of Strata, Startupfest, FWD50, and Scaletechconf; author of Lean Analytics and some other books), Hugh McGuire (Rebus Foundation, PressBooks, LibriVox) and I decided that every week the three of us are going to share one link for one another (for a total of six links) that each individual feels the other person “must see.”

Check out these six links that we’re recommending to one another:

  • AI Eats The World – Bendict EvansBen Evans’ latest observations on the growth of AI – with links to videos of recent presentations. I always admire his ability to give talks about the underlying trends of technology, and this is no exception.” (Alistair for Hugh).
  • Apashe, Worakls & Wasiu – Rome Is Burning – YouTube“I’ll say one thing about the end times: the art is pretty amazing. Can’t get this track, or the video, out of my head.” (Alistair for Mitch).
  • clipping.: Tiny Desk Concert – NPR. “The rhythm section is pretty dope.” (Hugh for Alistair).
  • Montreal’s Habitat 67 Has A $750K Condo For Sale & It’s Like A Time Capsule Inside – MTL Blog. Habitat 67, Moshe Safdie‘s famous Montreal apartment complex, built from prefabricated concrete units stacked in irregular geometric arrangements for Expo 67 is famous for pioneering a new vision of urban housing – proving that high-density living could still offer privacy, gardens, and fresh air. It was a symbol of 1960s architectural optimism, and a hallmark ever since of Montreal tourism photos. I realize that (I think?) I have never seen inside an Habitat 67 unit? Here’s a peek.” (Hugh for Mitch).
  • The Loneliness Crisis, Cognitive Atrophy, And Other Personal Dangers Of AI Chatbots – Nate Hagens. “This has to be one of the most relevant and pertinent conversations that not enough people are having. There are many topics in this podcast that are explored, but things start really getting interesting at the 45-minute mark. They’re warning us about how AI chatbots can erode human relationships, replacing teachers and real social bonds. This shift risks harming young minds, attention, and our shared sense of reality. They urge caution to prevent concentrated tech power from reshaping society and weakening human connection. And the hits just keep on coming. It’s amazing to hear concepts we may have grazed over discussed in such depth. Plus, this comes hot on the heels about all of the AI-infused toys and games hitting the market. Are we going to allow this to happen? All terrifying…” (Mitch for Alistair).
  • Derek Thompson On Why Everything Is Becoming Television, And Whether Democracy Can Survive It – Mixed Signals – YouTube. “This is a real gem of a conversation and a brilliant insight to what’s happened to media, culture and even the state of young people. Derek Thompson argues that many things in culture are turning into television (short, attention‑driven, shareable stories). This shift changes how people pay attention and how ideas spread. He worries those changes affect democracy and how we understand the world. And, ultimately, fracture a ltot of our collective stories. I’m not doing this any justice with this description. Just trust me and watch this… brilliant stuff… and a big shout-out to Ion Valis for pointing this episode out to me.” (Mitch for Hugh).
