Is there one link, story, picture or thought that you saw online this week that you think somebody you know must see?

My friends: Alistair Croll (Solve for Interesting, Tilt the Windmill, HBS, chair of Strata, Startupfest, FWD50, and Scaletechconf; author of Lean Analytics and some other books), Hugh McGuire (Rebus Foundation, PressBooks, LibriVox) and I decided that every week the three of us are going to share one link for one another (for a total of six links) that each individual feels the other person “must see.”

• Crystals Might Be Good for Your Aura. But Buying Them Could Be Bad Karma – Los Angeles Magazine. “I ended the week in LA, following Burning Man, and came across this article in a hotel magazine. Tracked it down online because of the sheer absurdity. ‘Labradorite allows one to connect to one’s full success,’ she says, gesturing to a display of the gray iridescent rocks at her new North Hollywood store. A small sign accompanying the crystals goes even further, explaining that each stone ‘[h]eightens intuition and enhances psychic abilities.’ But rocks are decidedly unwoke, when you find out where they come from. Learn all about the terrible cost of hokum spirituality and blood crystals.” (Alistair for Hugh). 
• Restaurant of Mistaken Orders. “This pop-up restaurant hires servers with dementia. They get the orders wrong quite a lot, and nobody minds. Wonderful example from a culture that still respects its elderly, in stark contrast to the ageism of many countries. Found this via Kottke.org, but linking the organization itself.” (Alistair for Mitch).
• Werner Herzog: Chicken Expert – BoingBoing. “If you are a Werner Herzog fan then this little clip is about as good as it gets.” (Hugh for Alistair).
• Rent a Private Pool For the Day With This ‘Airbnb For Pools’ – Life Hacker. “Airbnb for pools?” (Hugh for Mitch).
• The Glorious, Almost-Disconnected Boredom of My Walk in Japan – Wired. “It’s a common theme. Ditch the tech. Walk more. Look at nature. Pay attention. Daydream. Wander. Feel life. Don’t worry about your Instagram feed. We know this. Still. This is a beautiful piece of words, sentences and emotion. Please read this. Please share it… widely.” (Mitch for Alistair). 
• With ‘Talking to Strangers,’ Malcolm Gladwell Goes Dark – The New York Times. “And so it begins. The press cycle surrounding a new Malcolm Gladwell book. This one, Talking To Strangers, will be a big release for the journalist/author (then again, which Gladwell book isn’t a big deal). Love Gladwell or hate him (I happen to love him), you can’t deny that he took the art of non-fiction book writing and brought it to the masses. More than that, he brought this type of book into mainstream culture. If you write business books, and you’re selling copies, you have Galdwell to thank. I’m looking forward to this new book, and reading a lot more about his process.” (Mitch for Hugh).
