How To Find The Best Content – One Tool To Help You Stop Drinking From The Fire Hose

I should have Blogged about this sooner. Whenever you get an email from Bryan Eisenberg (co-author of Waiting For Your Cat To Bark? and Call To Action, Blogger over GrokDotCom and the dude from Future Now Inc.) that says, "have you seen this yet?" you better go and check it out.

This was the link: http://www.aiderss.com/all/twistimage.com%2Fblog.

It is an amazing website called, AideRSS, that somehow analyzes an entire Blog and ranks the postings as:

– Good Posts.

– Great Posts.

– Best Posts.

It’s all done in percentages, and it seems to rank the content by comments, links, etc… It will even show you the Top 20 posts (according to their algorithm). One of the cooler functions is that you can subscribe to only the "Great Posts" or "Best Posts" (your call). While it’s not one hundred accurate, this could be one of the ways to quell the feeling that some people have when they first get into Blogs: most people – to some degree – feel like they are drinking from the fire hose.

Here’s how AideRSS explains what they do:

"There are only 24 hours in a day and a near infinite number of blogs to follow. You don’t attempt to read the entire newswire every day, and we didn’t think you should be doing the same for every blog. We set out to create an aide, like the newspaper editor, to help you find and read what matters.

AideRSS is an intelligent assistant, which continuously monitors RSS feeds, finds the good stuff, creates a PostRank, and delivers it to you. We do the grunt work of collecting information on every post, allowing you to focus on your agenda and stay on top of the news stream."

PostRank is "a scoring system that we have developed to rank each article on relevance and reaction. It is a core part of the AideRSS engine that works to ensure that this digital assistant is helping you to tame the RSS beast and keep your news stream manageable."

It’s a pretty cool idea, and I’m wondering if a filter, or "intelligent assistant" (as the AideRSS folks call it) is something whose time has come?
