Great Line-Up At The New Media For Communications Conference In Toronto Next Week – Do You Smell Another Geek Dinner Toronto?

I was asked by the organizers of The New Media For Communications Conference – Harnessing Web-based Pathways to Increase Stakeholder Contact, to give a presentation titled, No Control or KNOW Control: What Communicators Need To Know About A World of User-Generated Content, Blogs, Social Networks and Mobility (wow, that’s a mouth-full). The conference is taking place Tuesday, November 28 to Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Toronto and is produced by The Canadian Institute.
I have spoken for The Canadian Institute in the past and their conferences are typically attended by communications and public relations professionals. I was unsure as to the rest of the two-day agenda, but when I saw who was speaking, it made me realize that this could well be one of the better line-ups of Canadian Social Media Digerati I’ve seen in a long time.
You can view the full agenda and speakers here: The New Media For Communications Conference.
It’s going to be a fun two days. You can rest assured that any time you get people like David Jones and Terry Fallis from Inside PR in a room with characters like Michael O’Connor Clarke and search expert, Andrew Goodman, there will be some Podcasting and Blogging gems posted soon thereafter. I’m also very much looking forward to finally meeting Joseph Thornley of Thornley Fallis Group and the Blog, Pro PR.
I’ll also be on a panel discussion titled, It’s in their Hands: The Impact of Changing Consumer Trends and User Generated Media on the Communicator’s Role.
Will there be Geek Dinner Toronto III next week? Not exactly. Some of the speakers agreed to grab a bite on Tuesday night. This led to folks like Michael Seaton, Ed Lee, Chris Clarke, Eli Singer, Sulemaan Ahmed and Stuart MacDonald to jump in. So, let’s call is Geek Dinner Toronto II.1, but where are the female Toronto Digerati? Please come forward and RSVP to me.
Otherwise, head over to Julia Stein’s Sophisticated Bohemian Blog and vote on the hottest male Toronto Geeks (I mean social media mavens). You would think that with my consistent presence in Toronto, I would qualify? Then again, I would win by a landslide and that would not be fair to the other guys 😉
