Word Of Mouth Basic Training Blog

WOMMA – Word Of Mouth Marketing Association – recently launch a Blog, WOMBAT – Word Of Mouth Basic Training (not sure I get where that last “A” comes from but whatever), to support their upcoming event, Word Of Mouth Basic Training conference, which is taking place on January 19th – 20th in Orlando, Florida.
The Word Of Mouth Basic Training conference features an impressive line-up of speakers including Bob Garfield, Scott Ginsberg, Bryan Eisenberg, Mark Hughes and many more.
I found it quite amusing because I had heard about the event several weeks ago and since then, more than a handful of people have approached me to see if I had heard of the Word Of Mouth Basic Training conference, or to see if I will be speaking there (we are submitting a speaker proposal) – that’s pretty good word of mouth marketing.
The WOMBAT Blog is a great execution (it could even be a case study) on how to leverage an Instant Personal Publishing tool to coincide and help strengthen an event. Included are latest updates on speakers and topics that will be covered at the event along with Podcasts and other tips and goodies on how to make the most of word of mouth marketing. It brings an urgency to mind, and I know I felt that tinge of “should I just buy my ticket now?”
WOMMA has taken some heat since its inception. There are many marketers, skeptics and journalists (you thought those last two were one in the same, didn’t you?) who don’t feel like there can be effective word of mouth marketing if dollars are exchanging hands and if the campaign involves paying people who are not “raving fans” to pretend that they are. My guess is this topic will come up a lot during the Word Of Mouth Basic Training conference, and that there will be fistful of case studies on how to really make a strong word of mouth campaign launch without crossing the foul line. I’m presuming “my guess” is accurate.
