Race In The Workplace Talks Personal Branding

Posted by

The always insightful Carmen Van Kerckhove from the Addicted To Race Podcast and Race In The Workplace Blog did an email interview with me last week on the topic of personal branding.
The post is called, How To Build Your Personal Brand, and it’s a quick snapshot of the talk and presentation concepts I created on the topic of personal branding and how important it is to understand and develop your personal brand.
One of the better quotes on branding (that applies perfectly to personal branding) is from Jeff Bezos – the founder of Amazon.com. He said: “it’s what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” Interestingly, the Amazon.com brand is considered to be one of the top global brands.
Another reason why I am so passionate about personal brands is because of social media. I believe that as these channels grow, individuals (like you and I) will have the ability to create personal brands on scale with large corporate brands. I know that seems like a crystal-ball-gazing statement, but as media voice democratizes, individuals will have personal brands that rival the big corporations.

  1. Hey Mitch
This sounds like it’ll be a good interview to read over the weekend. I always find it interesting to hear what people have said about me when I’m not in the room.
