Nick Morgan Explains How To Give A Presentation That Changes The World

Episode #292 of Six Pixels of Separation – The Twist Image Podcast is now live and ready for you to listen to.

When I got my first offer to speak in front of a large audience, I wasn’t sure where to turn for more professional public speaking and presentation skills training. Many names of individuals and organizations were fed my way, but one name that kept rising to the top was Nick Morgan. I immediately purchased his book, Give Your Speech, Change The World, and it did – in fact – change my world and perception of what a presentation is really all about. I eagerly bought his other book, Trust Me, and have become not only a fan of his every move (which isn’t as creepy as it sounds), but also of his Blog, Public Words. In the marketing world, the best ideas don’t always win. One of the main reasons is because they’re not presented well (in essence, a poor presentation can kill the best of ideas). Being a great presenter is a core capability of some of the most respected business leaders and marketing professionals we’ve seen to date. Nick Morgan knows how to get you there. Just take a listen. Enjoy the conversation…

You might check out Tim Pollard at http://www.oratium.com . . . If your company needs to sharpen presentation skills you couldn’t find a better workshop than his Mastering The High Stakes Presentation. It is outstanding!

  2. Thanks for sharing Mitch. I came across Nick’s book a little while ago as well, but haven’t read it yet, so this was great. Some great ideas on making small improvements for great impact. I like his thoughts on blending entertainment and content – it seems that as professional speakers, that is our holy grail.
While we’re on the topic, I really enjoyed “Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs” as well. That book has been transformational in terms of levelling up my stage game. I believe you interviewed Camine a little ago as well?
    Cheers!
    Ernest.

  3. It’s seriously one of the best books I read when it comes to putting together compelling presentations. Went through it three times already and picked out a few great ideas every time.
Planning to grab Nick’s book on Kindle today or tomorrow 🙂

  4. Hey, Mitch —
Thanks again for arranging the podcast. It was fun to chat with one of the masters of digital communications — and of course marketing. We’re all students of the art of great speechmaking, and I for one am grateful for every good idea and strong presentation I see. I was reviewing Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech with a client yesterday and as always got fired up once again about the possibilities of a great speech to change the world.

  5. I often just read the text of that speech and try to think about moods that can be created in my own presentations. I then realize that I’m dreaming big, but that’s what gets people interested in a public speech.
Thanks for agreeing to this conversation, Nick… you have no idea how much your work has influenced me.

  6. As is so often the case, just when I need to learn about a specific topic, Mitch interviews a true doyen like Nick for us to all appreciate.
Just bought the book, can’t wait to dive in. Thank you both for making this such an enjoyable learning process!
