Foreword Thinking – The Business And Motivational Book Review Podcast With Predictably Irrational Author Dan Ariely Now Live

I have been woefully slow at posting new episodes of my "other" Podcast, Foreword Thinking – The Business and Motivational Book Review Podcast, sponsored by our good friends at HarperCollins Canada, but I could not wait any longer. Yesterday, I posted episode #10 featuring an incredible conversation with Dan Ariely.

Dan’s first book is the now best-selling, Predictably Irrational – The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decision. We had this conversation a couple of months before the book came out and took the world by storm. The book is fascinating and the conversation is amazing. Did you know that we repeatedly and predictably make the wrong decisions in many aspects of our lives and that research could help change some of these patterns? As a behavioral economist, Dan Ariely studies how people actually act in the marketplace, as opposed to how they should or would perform if they were completely rational. His interests span a wide range of daily behaviors such as buying (or not), saving (or not), ordering food in restaurants, pain management, procrastination, dishonesty, and decision making under different emotional states. His experiments are consistently interesting, amusing, and informative, demonstrating profound ideas that fly in the face of common wisdom.

As you’ll hear, there was some great chemistry and Dan’s insight are both funny, shocking, surprising and insightful. Imagine, as a Marketer, how powerful it would be to understand how to price and promote your products and services based on human behaviour? Dan provides this panacea.

You can check out out our conversation right here: Foreword Thinking – The Business And Motivational Book Review Podcast – Episode #10 – Dan Ariely (you can also subscribe to the show in iTunes to ensure that you never miss an episode).

In a related Six Pixels of Separation story, after this conversation with Dan Ariely, he and I had a conversation about Blogs, book publishing and public speaking. This conversation led to an introduction on my part to my speaker’s bureau for Dan (which has worked out for both parties), and Dan was also kind enough to introduce me to his literary agent. This lead to my Blog posting from last week: Big News – Grand Central Publishing Signs Global Book Deal For Six Pixels Of Separation Book To Business Plus Imprint. So, not only am I excited about this latest episode of Foreword Thinking, but I am indebted to Dan for his kindness and willingness to help others that he doesn’t even know. He’s a pretty incredible guy.

  1. Great conversation – I’ve just finished Chapter 6 and so far it’s absolutely fascinating. I’m looking forward to the rest – can’t put it down.
